Irish Prince(ss)

Póg's Ponderings Posted on Sun, May 08, 2011 17:45:09

I’ve been meaning to post this photo of me, taken in March at Trish’s birthday. I know what some of you people are thinking. I is a BOY innit! But LISTEN people I am in touch with my sexuality and I CAN wear a tiara with Irish Princess written on it and STILL work it! As the vet says, I is a metrosexual terrier . . . .

Flirting & Fooding

Today was a beautiful sunny day in London with a strong wind which made me feel really frisky. Trish was training me in the park but I sniffed a lovely girl and took off after her. Trish wasn’t at all happy and was shouting at me as me and this girl ran round the park. We ran round and round and then headed for the gate which leads on to the road. I suddenly heard Trish calling me and came back to her but she wasn’t very happy and muttered something like ‘That’s it! You’re for the snip’ Don’t know what she means but I know she wasn’t happy with me and I spent the rest of my walk on the lead – sigh!

In the afternoon, we met up with Trish’s friend D (he doesn’t like dogs much but I think he’ll change his mind about me, eventually). We sat outside in the sun and Trish and D had nice food and wine but I only got water!! D says he’ll have to borrow me as he noticed that all the girls were looking at me. Huh! NOW he likes me innnit!

After that Trish and I went for a stroll down the southbank which was very busy. On our way back home, two men asked Trish if they could take my photo and also another nice couple were asking about me and my breed. Trish told them about my blog so maybe they’ll sign up to be my friend!

Watching the world go by

Póg's Ponderings Posted on Tue, April 26, 2011 00:42:22

I had a relatively quiet Easter Monday, went to the park and played with Ted. This evening we also met Peggy & Rock. We played with the frisbee as well as the ball. Ted was really competitive as usual and nearly got in a fight with a BIG doberman!

Trish did lots of housework today so Beckett and I just sat and looked out the window and watched the world go by.

Picnic with Ted

Póg's Ponderings Posted on Fri, April 22, 2011 00:27:52

Me and my best friend Ted went on a picnic with Trish and her friend David today. David is Ted’s owner and he is great craic and he likes to take lots of photos of us, kinda like Trish. Truth be told, they’re a bit obsessive really but what’s a dog to do?

We went on a train ride again but not very far this time, then we got to a lovely green space where David and Trish had a picnic. They had REALLY NICE FOOD but didn’t share it with us AT ALL!

It was really sunny today so Ted and I had to drink lots of water. We chased each other, then we chased other dogs, we chased the ball (and lost it!) AND we played tug of war with a stick.

We like to rough play and it all looks really fierce sometimes because we gnash our teeth together quite a bit but we don’t make any sounds and it’s all really good ’cause sometime he sits on my head and then I bite his leg and he grabs my neck and it’s sort of like doggie judo ’cause we roll over and over and. . . get really tired! Phew!

A day on the beach

Póg's Ponderings Posted on Tue, April 19, 2011 23:41:40

I had a fantastic day today. Trish and I travelled down to Worthing and I experienced my first beach trip! We met Trish’s friend Sonia who took us to her house first. She had a nice back yard which was really sunny but it had a neighbour’s CAT on the wall! You’ll see a photo of him below, I barked and growled at him so he ran away SCAREDY CAT!!

The first beach we went to had lots of little stones and the waves were very close and scared me at first but I’m made of stronger stuff and after I played with some children I relaxed a bit and had some fun. I even sniffed a dogfish which was lying dead on the pebbles – imagine that!

After lunch, we went back down to the beach and this time the waves were very gentle and there was sand so I ran about and played in the water with some more children and tried to kill some seaweed.

On the way home I met a nice woman on the train who said I was a VERY handsome Irish Terrier. I think she likes the windswept look . . .

Goodnight everyone, I’m off to my bed to dream of becoming a dogfish!

Revenge is a dish best served cold

Póg's Ponderings Posted on Mon, April 18, 2011 22:04:17

This one is specially for you Fo! See – that’s what happens to bad toyfriends who chew Trish’s (signed) Phillip Pullman’s book when she was away on holiday last year! Thanks for pointing out that it was probably Beckett, it came as a shock as I really trusted him but I’ve had to show him who comes where in the pecking order (just this once) as generally we’re bff.

What’s in a name?

Póg's Ponderings Posted on Mon, April 18, 2011 18:40:55

Some of you may be wondering what my name means so I’ll try to explain as best I can but do bear in mind that I am still only a puppy so please be patient.

Firstly my name is Irish which is only right and proper for an Irish Terrier, well I think so anyway.

The name Póg is an abbreviation. The ‘P’ comes from ‘Peadar’ which means ‘Peter’ in Irish and ‘óg’ means ‘little’ or ‘junior’ but the really cool thing is that when you join them together you get Póg (pronounced pogue) which means ‘kiss’. I reckon Trish must have know that I’d grow up to be a handsome boy and that just about everyone I’d meet would want to cover me in kisses. Spooky!

Some people think I’m named after the band ‘The Pogues’ but really – I have MUCH nicer teeth than that Shane McGowan! It’s true! Even the vet’s receptionist has admired my white teeth!

I also share my name with a very special boy named Póg who lives in Co. Galway in Ireland and I hope to meet him one day soon.

The photos are of me when I was just 3 months old. Cute huh?
